Stigmi

Stigmi (modern Greek for moment / στιγμή) is an experimental service for sharing posts - dubbed "Stigs" - of up to 350 characters - and media to your friends. It's not algorithmical: you only see Stigs from those you follow. Stigmi is basically a tribute to Twitter in the early 2010s or 2020s, depends on which interface you use.

Stigmi by itself is such a titan that I really have no idea how to adequately describe it in this page. You should read: this, this, this and maybe even this. Stigmi is less of a "project" and more of an "ongoing experiment". Do with that as you will. No, I'm not using anything generated for AI training...

To make it as clear as possible: Stigmi is an ongoing experimental research and learning project. While I'm not sending any data to Sam Altman or Dario Amodei, I am looking closely at pretty much anything that happens, whether user-created or automatically computed. But that's just me.

Stigmi has many systems that Twitter created and employed back in 2018-2021 down to a science: most notably the "flow tasks" system. For example, if you were to ever visit twitter.com/i/flow/login, a modal will open and the Twitter API will be called, which would give you some sort of response about subtasks and whatnot. While the login flow has since been replaced by "Jetfuel" (some mysterious new system by X), you can peek under the hood of Stigmi in DevTools and see how the flow tasks work. Like, this, this and this are all flow tasks that you can peek at.

Notwithstanding, Stigmi is really just my most technical project I'm tutoring myself with, unlike everything else, which I made just for shits and giggles. All the while, if you're interested in using Stigmi, I would love to welcome you! In fact, I have recently moved it to a more beefy server and reworked its database in the hopes that it performs under (any) pressure. You can read about that here.
